Rosh HaShana
Rosh HaShana is not simply the years beginning, but also, literally, its head; just as the head directs and controls the whole body, the good resolutions of Rosh HaShana must direct all the days of the year. There are special implications, therefore, to Shabbos Rosh HaShana (as it falls out this year).
Shabbos has two themes: G‑ds control of the whole world in all its details, and refraining from work to be free for Torah and mitzvos.
On Shabbos Rosh HaShana, then, one firmly resolves that all the days of the coming year will feel the influence of Shabbos, a reminder that
everywhere and always, in whatever task a person performs, Gd is in control. We are also reminded to infuse a Shabbos atmosphere into the days of the week, so that even weekday matters co
ntain a spiritual dimension.

According to Rabbi Shalom DovBer of Lubavitch, concentration in saying LeDovid Mizmor is a vessel for receiving ones physical needs for the whole year.
