House Starter Kit Project

Chabad in Houston is helping many families find and furnish apartments to live in for the coming year. You can help with providing these families with some of the “starter” basics for their new homes. Imagine the warmth the evacuee families will feel, when we give them more than a place to stay – we’re giving them a home. So pool together with some friends, and go mitzvah shopping.

Get a large Rubbermaid storage container and fill it with the following kosher items. (Kosher items with an OU or OK can be used by everyone, regardless of their level of observance.)

  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Pasta
  • Rice
  • Coffee
  • Tea
  • Spices
  • Salt
  • Mayonnaise
  • Vegetable oil
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • Tomato sauce
  • Garbage bags
  • Aluminum foil
  • Disposable hot and cold cups
  • Disposable plates and bowls
  • Disposable cutlery
  • Napkins
  • Tissues
  • Paper towels
  • Toilet tissue
