Images Offer Peek at Cross Section of Jewish Life

Dollars with the Rebbe
A new posting in an ongoing archive project by Jewish Educational Media, a Chabad-Lubavitch organization tasked with preserving and disseminating the video and audio recordings of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of righteous memory, allows visitors to TheRebbe.org to browse through thousands of images of people who met the Rebbe outside of his office at Lubavitch World Headquarters.

The pictures, dated October 13, 1991, are part of footage of the sessions when the Rebbe distributed crisp dollar bills to individuals for them to give to the charity of their choice.

At the distributions, which lasted for six years, many took the opportunity to ask for the Rebbe’s advice or blessings.

The latest posting, which allows people to identify friends and family members, as well as purchase a DVD of their "Moment with the Rebbe," was unveiled in time for the 106th anniversary of the Rebbe’s birth.

It includes some 2,814 images of more than 3,000 people, representing a cross section of the Jewish nation.

TheRebbe.org is a joint project of JEM and ChabadTexas.org.

New design for Passover home page

With passover on the way, we recently unveiled a new design for our passover site. It's a similar theme to our Purim site.

In case you forgot, here's how it looked before, and here's how in looked back in 2004 (!).

Passover Web Site Answers Holiday Questions

With its emphasis on special foods, unique ritual and spiritually-laden subject matter, Passover has inspired countless questions throughout the generations, such as what is the difference the bitter herbs and other “greens” on the Seder plate to why the Seder is celebrated over four cups of wine. A new Q&A section on the world’s largest Passover site, Passover.org, tackles these questions and more, directing users to in-depth answers dealing with both Passover in general and the Seder in particular. Hosted by ChabadTexas.org, the site has been inundated with visitors in advance of the eight-day holiday, which begins April 19 this year...
